Already working in SoCal

PJL Telecom is a small, owner-operated phone company. Preston Toborg runs it from Prescott, Arizona, and the business already has a foothold in Southern California hospitality: today we run the phone systems at three Motel 6 properties in the region.

That matters if you are comparing providers. Hotel and motel phones are not like office phones. There are analog phones in every room, wake-up calls, a front desk that handles everything, and life safety lines that cannot be an afterthought. We set those up and run them on live properties.

Our hosted platform runs from data centers in Los Angeles and Dallas, and every property is managed remotely by us, so you are not waiting on a technician to change a greeting or add an extension.

Built for:

Independent hotels, franchise economy and midscale properties, and owners with more than one property in the region who want one provider and one flat rate per property.

Where we serve

Properties across the four main Southern California markets.

Orange County

Properties near the coast, the freeway corridors and the attractions that keep rooms full.

San Diego County

From downtown and the beach areas to inland and border-region properties.

Los Angeles County

Airport-area, roadside and city properties, independent or flagged.

Inland Empire

Riverside and San Bernardino County properties along the I-10, I-15 and SR-91 corridors.

What changes and what doesn't

  • Room phones stay. Grandstream gateways in the telco closet connect your existing analog room phones to the hosted system.
  • The front desk gets new phones. Grandstream desk phones ship pre-configured. Plug them in and they work.
  • Your numbers stay. We port them for you at no charge, so the number on your listings and booking sites keeps working.
  • Guest features carry over. Wake-up calls and room-to-room calling are part of the setup.
  • Managers stay connected. Mobile and desktop apps let staff take and route calls away from the desk.

911 and life safety

Federal rules under Kari's Law and RAY BAUM's Act apply to hotel and motel phone systems. On a PJL system, guests dial 911 directly with no prefix, the front desk is notified when anyone does, and the call carries a dispatchable location down to the room.

Fire panel lines and elevator emergency phones are planned into the conversion, and we coordinate with your alarm monitoring company before those lines move. Our Kari's Law checklist walks through what to verify.

One flat rate per property

Pricing starts at $125 a month per property plus actual usage. No per-room fees and no per-user fees. Month-to-month, with no long-term contract. PMS integration is available as a quoted add-on.

Service carries a 99.99% uptime SLA, which excludes scheduled maintenance and the property's own network or internet connection.
